Camera releases with Hi Speed Components!

Casio EX-FR110H Goes Full Night Vision!

Casio EX-FR110H

There was some wild expectation for the Casio EX-FR110H to be a return for the company to it’s innovation roots and offer not only an extremely high sensitivity video and photo mode but a return to a leading role in portable high speed video.  Casio was after all the maker of the innovative EX-F1 which delivered true super slow motion video to the masses in a portable camera package back in 2008.

Now eight years later Casio has not improved when it comes to slow motion specs on their cameras when it comes to higher frame rates and resolution.  The EX-FR110H does have some innovative features for extreme low light but when it comes to slow motion it really is just following along without a high spec. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Chronos 1.4 Slowmo Camera Kickstarter Ready!

Chronos 1.4 Slowmo Camera

We have been following the evolution of the Chronos high speed camera for some time and been amazed at the speed and refinement that David Kronstein the creator from Vancouver Canada has been able to reach in the space of a year.  With the Kickstarter campaign being launched today you now have the chance to fund his project and get a camera of our own.

The camera will start at $2,499.00  USD for the 8GB memory version that can record 4 seconds at full speed 1,057fps at 1280*1024 or 1,502fps at 720p. This is some aggressive pricing especially in a  self contained package.  This beats the pants off self contained cameras  of  a few years ago which maxed out at 725fps for over 15k USD.  The Chronos also has several professional features like Gigabit Ethernet, SATA 3G, HDMI Peaking and Zebra assist. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

DJI Phantom 4 Pro Delivers 4k 60fps!

DJI Phantom 4 Pro

It seems DJI is doing the impossible these days to make the competition look bad. They are executing on all cylinders by releasing industry leading products every couple of months now. The latest DJI Phantom 4 Pro and DJI Inspire 2 are so advanced compared to the competition that it really starts to become a monopolistic playing field.

The DJI Mavic Pro is already the most impressive drone when it comes to portability and now the new drones fill the gaps in image quality and performance where the Mavic Pro simply can’t compete. GoPro has already recalled the GoPro Karma Drone due to loosing power while hovering without warning posing a risk down below. If these DJI drones are solid, then other makers have to step up their game fast. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Sony FS7 Mark II Slow Motion Stays at 180fps!

Sony FS7 Mark II

In what could be condensed into a mild refresh at best; the newly released Sony FS7 Mark II Super 35mm 4k Camera does little to entice owners of the Sony FS7 to upgrade. It seems to be a way to replace the camera and entice new buyers without actually offering anything really revolutionary.

To be fair there are a few improvements like the E Mount now has a PL like locking mechanism for easier lens detachment without twisting. This is ideal for lenses with filters and matte box attached. Also the integrated electronic Variable ND brings it in line with other cameras that offer this compelling option to avoid ND filters altogether while setting the camera for 1/180º shutter. Added also is BT.2020 color space for UHD recording at 10 and 12 bits, 10 assignable buttons vs 6 in the Mark 1 and a few new LEDs and ergonomic fixes from user feedback on the Mark 1. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Sony a6500 Slow Motion and Overheating!

Sony a6500 Slow Motion

The Sony a6500 came as a big surprise to a6300 owners in that their camera was loosing value overnight in the secondary market to a near identical close with a touch screen and IBIS stabilization.  However the camera has still not reached the hands of many pre order customers but we were able to find a few insights on the 120fps full HD slow motion mode.

The quality should be very similar to the a6300 since the sensor is identical but with slight improvements in the dynamic range and color pipeline should yield a slight increase in per pixel definition. The compression should be very close with the XAVC-S codec at 21Mbps at 24p and or 50Mbps at 60p with easily selectable formats. → Continue Reading Full Post ←
