The newly announced Sony PXW-FS5 Professional camcorder is like a hybrid of the venerable FS700 of 2012 and last years darling the Sony FS7. It however offers a lot in the way of portability with it’s small profile and a slow motion mode akin to that in the RX100 IV and RX10 II. It seems to be a refined higher resolution mode of the FS700’s slow motion capabilities with better dynamic range and less artifacts to boot. Call it FS700 slowmo v2.0!
The camera comes with an HFR High Frame Rate mode akin to what was introduced in the lower end Sony line this year. Sony today has announced a pretty important pair of products the Sony A7s II and the Sony FS5 Pro Model. On the one hand video producers that adopted the Sony A7s last year due to it’s impressive dynamic range and extreme low light ability at up to ISO 409,600; were in a bind as recording 4k with the camera needed an external recorder in order to do it. It also had no sensor image stabilization which is a very useful feature. Not anymore the newly announced Sony A7s II has internal 4k with S-Log 3 flat profile mode and it also boosts last years 120fps at 720p to Full HD and full sensor readout 1080p at 120fps. From the samples the quality seems impressive and artifact free, it will be a matter of looking at non Sony samples to see if the quality is that good in the 120fps FHD mode.
Update 9/10/2015: It is confirmed that the iPhone 6s has 2GB of RAM which is twice that of the previous iPhone 6 release. The iPad Pro has a large 4GB of RAM as confirmed today also!

The latest fps1000 update has something that buyers of the Kickstarter project have been waiting for months; this wait is over and we can now finally see the first images of the new camera iteration with a turned on screen and included 50mm C lens for C mount models. Today the Samsung Galaxy S6+ Edge and the Galaxy Note 5 were announced with somewhat subdued fanfare. For slow motion aficionados there is not much news regarding the release. While the Note 5 is a big upgrade in performance compared to the Note 4 of last year; the S6+ is basically a larger screen Galaxy S6 edge.
Slow motion on the original Galaxy S6 was limited to 120fps and the new phone has no changes; the S6 Edge + shares the same camera specs at a max of 120fps at 720p . And while Samsung has basicly the same camera setup on the Note 5 ypou could expect similar performance. However as of today there is no confirmation of 120fps on the Galaxy Note 5. There is confirmation of 60fps at 1080p on the Note 5 but no higher slow motion. Even in Samsung’s direct specs it just mentions Slow Motion Mode. We guess it is the deliberate omission of some touting of specs to cater to a different market.
