fps1000 Ships First Cameras Continues Fixes!

A milestone in the fps1000 project has been reached as now a small batch of cameras have been shipped to some of the backers that were content with the full metal casing design.  The camera ran into some hurdles on EMC testing with the latest case design “some pesky leaks” which have been corrected and are awaiting a re-test.   Cameras are running a stable and usable software already letting the cameras record and do capture as intended.   The early adopters will serve as beta testers and will help Graham Rowan the creator of the fps1000 iron out software bugs if they appear before a wider release. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Ono U1 Misses again asks for extra 48hrs!

HSC – The Dec 3rd deadline came and went but there was no reveal. There is a statement from the CEO of U1 Labs, creators of the Ono U1 Smartphone, regarding the slip on the reveal.

CEO Statement:

edgertronic 2.1.5 Firmware – Multicast Network Trigger!

The edgertronic camera continues to evolve with firmware releases that improve the camera in many ways and patches bugs here and there that crop up while in use.  The latest 2.1.5 firmware  ads a very important feature for owners of multi camera setups which is called “Multicast Network Trigger” which is a pseudo Gen-lock feature that does not require cables between cameras directly and the network connection within the camera creates the interface for trigger sync among multiple edgertronic cameras.

Feature notes: “The camera supports being triggered by the receipt of a network multicast UDP packet. This is useful when you have multiple cameras that need to be triggered close to the same time but do not need to be genlocked. A lot has been happening behind the scenes with the fps1000 camera and we get a glimpse of those in the latest update published today by Graham Rowan.  Many are waiting impatiently for the camera but have decided to wait it out to get a better and more solid product.  If you look at the early fps1000 camera design the current iterations are light years ahead in capability and build quality. That of course comes at a cost in both price and time but it is nothing sort of a small miracle that the camera continues to progress further with more iterations of the motherboard and aiming to pass EMC and FCC Testing in order to ship. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

VR Revolution Will Need High Speed Video!

The VR of the 1990s was a certified gimmick ; technology wasn’t there for the most part and a simple system then by today’s standards was worth millions of dollars.   Fast forward to 2011 when an inventive young man “only 18 years old then” Palmer Luckey built the first prototype of a VR headset in his parents garage. By the 6th generation prototype he named it the Rift and had a Kickstarter project to be able to launch to the gadget gamer community “raising US $2.4 million or 974% of its original target”.

John Carmack the genius programmer of ID software fame had an Oculus prototype headset and was blown away by it;  he modded it to better performance and was able to run a  Doom 3 edition on the headset in 2012.  Carmack is now the Chief technology officer CFO at Oculus VR. The interest in VR intensified and blew up right after the adoption of the technology by some of the best minds in the gaming industry.  Mark Zuckerberg was so into it and the possibilities it could bring to the future of social media that Facebook acquired Oculus VR for 2 Billion USD in March 2014. fps1000 First Footage and Ready for Production!

Today fps1000 has released an update that shows the camera working with LCD touch functions and playback along with visible live three color histogram and frame advance display.  Also the cameras are feature complete when it comes to hardware for the Silver, Gold and Platinum models. Software will continue to be improved as time goes on but the main standard use features are complete. Record, Trim and Playback are already in there along with a full player and scrub feature with capacitive touch fluidity. → Continue Reading Full Post ←
