Edgertronic Updates Software to v2.1.7!

The edgertronic affordable high speed professional camera continues it’s software development and occasional fixes to issues that can pop up during extensive use. The new version which is v2.1.7 has a new FTP daemon which allows you to transfer files from the camera to a host computer on the network using the FTP protocol.

The previously released forced monochrome feature for color cameras also makes a solid feature release on this version of the software. Zuk Z2 960fps video resolution decoded!

The Zuk Z2 has been released and as it’s customary from many manufacturers they omit the slow motion or just mention it as an afterthought.  According to the press release it does support 960fps video recording but nothing else is mentioned.   There is a mention of the feature still not active in the pre release phone due to software lag which will be released at a later date.

That however has not deterred us from crunching some numbers and getting a good estimate from the Samsung 13MP ISOCELL sensor used  which gives us clues as to what to expect in terms of higher frame rate support.  lets dig in! → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Android Camera App Now Has New Slowmo Mode!

The latest update of the Google Android Camera App on Android Marshmallow OS which is available on Nexus devices like the Google Nexus 5p and 6p has now a dedicated Slow motion mode built in the GUI menus.

The Slow motion mode on these devices used to be buried in the video options menu but now has a more prominent role in the Camera Menu that slides out.  While support is limited to Google Nexus devices for now, it seems that Slow motion might be an increasingly important feature for smartphones. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Sony FS5 Firmware Improves High Speed Capture!

NAB 2016 has turned out to be subdued in product announcements when it comes to cameras. Sure there are a few of not but nothing earth shattering for price conscious video enthusiasts.  The Sony FS5 is still a great camera and the new firmware to be released in May-June 2016 will give it more features and power.
