IPhone SE Retains Same Slo-Mo Specs As 6s!

iphoneSE

Apple today unveiled the iPhone SE;  little kept secret due to huge leaks in the rumor sites. What was not confirmed was the camera specs which as it turns out are exactly the same as the bigger and more expensive iPhone 6s flagship brother.

The camera should yield the exact same performance as the iPhone 6s which means great news when it comes to slow motion aficionados. 120fps at full 1080p and 240fps at 720p made their way in the specs which gives some indication that Apple cut very little from the phone; with the biggest omission being 3D touch.

iPhone SE Back Camera Specs:

  • 4K video recording (3840 by 2160) at 30 fps
  • 1080p HD video recording at 30 fps or 60 fps
  • 720p HD video recording at 30 fps
  • True Tone flash
  • Slo‑mo video support for 1080p at 120 fps and 720p at 240 fps
  • Time‑lapse video with stabilization
  • Cinematic video stabilization (1080p and 720p)
  • Continuous autofocus video
  • Improved noise reduction
  • Take 8-megapixel still photos while recording 4K video
  • Playback zoom
  • 3x zoom
  • Face detection
  • Video geotagging
The Price?

This being an Apple product it usually commands a lofty price but they have made the phones compete on a more leveled playing field.

  • $399 for 16GB
  •  $499 for 64GB

Apple iPhone SE hands-on by SlashGear:

What of the iPad Pro 9.7?

iPadPro9dot7

Also announced is a smaller 9.7 inch version of the iPad Pro 12.9 inch.  What is improved is one of our biggest gripe with the larger version camera, a flash. The 9.7″ version has a True tone flash unit which is a welcome sight as iPads have never had illumination for the camera in the past. It seems to share the same camera specs as the iPhone SE or iPhone 6s.  Apple have added the current top camera in their line-up to both products.  About time!

9.7″ iPad Pro Camera Specs:
  • 12-megapixel iSight camera
  • Live Photos
  • Autofocus with Focus Pixels
  • True Tone flash
  • Panorama (up to 63 megapixels)
  • Auto HDR for photos
  • Exposure control
  • Burst mode
  • Timer mode
  • ƒ/2.2 aperture
  • Five-element lens
  • Hybrid IR filter
  • Backside illumination
  • Sapphire crystal lens cover
  • Auto image stabilization
  • Improved local tone mapping
  • Improved noise reduction
  • Face detection
  • Photo geotagging

Video Recording:

  • 4K video recording (3840 by 2160) at 30 fps
  • 1080p HD video recording at 30 fps or 60 fps
  • 720p HD video recording at 30 fps
  • Slo-mo video support for 1080p at 120 fps and 720p at 240 fps
  • Time-lapse video with stabilization
  • Cinematic video stabilization
  • 3x video zoom
  • Face detection
  • Video geotagging

Yes the iPad Pro 9.7 now has the top Apple Slow motion camera specs at 1080p 120fps and 720p at 240fps. The Previous iPad Pro did not have the 1080p 120fps spec and it was a lower end camera unit. The smaller iPad Pro is now the more full featured iPad in the line-up except for the larger screen if needed.

iPadProPricing
The pricing starts small but goes up quickly as memory and Cellular features are added.

The Pricing $ is not cheap as seen above and the Cellular version is downright platinum expensive by a $200USD mark up when you add that feature.  This is typical Apple Premium pricing and hardly a good deal. If you need one of these we recommend you go Wifi Version only and avoid the Cellular data which should only add a few dollars in components.

You can see a few examples of what the iPhone 6s can do in Slow Motion within the following videos. Expect the same performance from the new iPhone SE and iPad Pro 9.7″.

  1. I have canceled the U1Labs order, maybe a scam! ?
I am thinking to get the iPhone SE(64GB), however, I will wait until I see the iPhone 7 specs first, if it can do 480fps, sure will go for it…hahaha

    1. We also received our money back from the U1 phone. We don’t think it was a scam as they gave back the money; but they ran into trouble on production and some unexpected software issues. They claim they are still making the phone, it looks like they haven’t given up. We’ll see.

iPhone 7 will have a better camera and probably 1080p 240fps but we still do not feel 480fps will be in the phone yet.
