There is no question that DigitalRev TV is the Top Gear of camera reviews on the internet. We are big fans of the antics of Kai and Lok doing all sorts of cool shoots and taking the mundane out of camera testing by making it fun or even ridiculous.

This time around they have decided to try the Sony RX10 II and The Sony RX100 IV slow motion feature for a spin. Nikon DL Has Powerful Slow Motion!

Nikon has delivered a shockwave for affordable slow motion with the three new Nikon DL Cameras announced yesterday.  At first glance it seems a refresh of previous cameras with a 1″ sensor module but actually these are a completely new breed.

For starters the cameras offered are basically the same bare bones electronics with the difference being in a specific focal length for the fixed lens assembly.  The cameras are presented in a DL18-50mm for the wide angle shooters, DL24-500mm for the sports and nature crowd who need the reach and DL24-85mm for portraits and general photography with a Super Macro mode. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Video ramping is not new, it is actually been here for quite a few years in cameras and widely accessible in modern video editors. The problem is that it is still a hard thing to do properly.  You either get choppy results, artifacts or pretty amazing ones by chance or by sheer trial and error and are not easily repeatable. After effects has had Time Remapping for a few years in the CS releases including Premiere Pro; but as with almost any built in feature in software it is hardly polished as well as it could be. Xiaomi Mi5 and Other Phones Rumored at MWC!

MWC – Mobile World Congress in Barcelona which takes place next week from February 22 to 25th has been heating up the rumor mill when it comes to phone announcements. CES was kind of a weak show for mobile announcements but the MWC Barcelona event will correct all that with many new phones announced.

As we only cover gear that is capable of shooting high frame rates for slow motion video there are some rumored phones that just jump out.  It seems that 120fps at least at 720p is now commonplace enough not to warrant a lot of scrutiny but now the trend is 120fps 1080p and 240fps at 720p as a new standard for flagship phones started by the iPhone 6s and cemented by the Huawei Nexus 6p of 2015. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

fps1000 Update Has Production and 4k News!

Warning: The parent company of FPS cameras “The Slow Motion Camera Company Ltd.” went out of business and entered liquidation proceedings. No further development of cameras is expected. More information here on Google Search!

HSC768 Camera Creator David Kronstein Q&A!

In our last post we looked at the HSC768 high speed camera project that had great performance and ergonomics including a jog wheel design and machined case. We asked the creator of the camera David Kronstein, who runs the Youtube channel Tesla500 from Vancouver Canada, a few questions regarding the future of the project and he kindly responded with some great insight.  We may have a third competitor in the HD high speed camera market to go head to head with the edgertronic camera and the yet to be released fps1000 project.

While the camera is still in the lab stages, it shows a usable design with professional looking performance and a pretty lengthy buffer. There is a touch screen interface based on a stripped down Linux OS installation and DDR3 high speed DRAM 16GB worth that can do quite a good set of frames. → Continue Reading Full Post ←
