Kodak Pixpro S-1 Phoenix in disguise?

Early in 2013 the near defunct name of Kodak as a camera maker was given some life support by having its name licensed by JK imaging Ltd.  a start-up imaging company that is hard to know much about. See this article for some clarification.

Sony RX100 mk III Video Reviews

Several sites have been trying out the Sony RX100 mk III and have finally been sharing their results along with video samples.

Sadly the 120fps 720p mode is resolution starved and soft. However it does look a little bit better than many cameras in the price bracket. After looking at the quality, we matched it to be just a smidge better than the iPhone 5s but just a tad below the GoPro Hero 3+ when it comes to 120fps slow motion.  It is now positioned in 10th place on our HSC Slow Motion Quality Guide. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

LX8 Rumors and ZS40 Slomo Samples

The LX7 is a great slow motion camera on the cheap and you can still get one while they last for under $400.  Rumors around the net hint that a replacement Panasonic LX8 is being readied for a July 16th release.

Specs wise not much is known but the claims say that a 1″ sensor and Electronic View Finder EVF not unlike that of the Sony RX100 mkIII will be the big upgrades.   The Panasonic LX7 does great slow motion at 720p 120fps with quality too good for something this small.  It will be premature to predict but the logical progression for the LX8 is to offer 120fps at 1080p and 240fps at 720p.   Don’t hold your breath but if this camera delivers it might become the next best thing in cheap quality Slow Motion. → Continue Reading Full Post ←
