Chronos 1.4 Shows Improved Case & User Footage!

The Chronos 1.4 portable high speed camera from Krontech Canada and Kickstarter has been getting a make over in the case department with more mount screws and either black or silver aluminum finish as options. While the case is not finalized it is very close to the shipping version since there are a few non cosmetic revisions for the next and final iteration.

The inclusion of 1/4″ Tripod Screw mounting holes in the bottom “now stainless steel” and side and top aluminum threads make it very easy to adapt the camera to any imaginable position. GH5 Slow Motion Pre Production Samples!

The Panasonic GH5 is gathering attention all over the camera world by making inroads into the professional video production space with it’s truly professional image quality 4:2:2 10 bit and video oriented workflow. There is already talk of the BBC being able to use it for productions and that is no small thing considering how demanding their image quality needs are.

We have gathered the few Full HD 180fps GH5 samples posted so far from pre production cameras so you can judge for yourself the quality delivered in this mode. HTC U Ultra & New Slow Motion Videos!

We have five recent slow motion videos that may peak your interest plus a new HTC Phone released with a slow motion function. While there has been a quiet front in the phone space slow motion since the introduction of the Google Pixel last year; we expect great things in 2017 like the announcement of the Galaxy S8 and iPhone 7s among others.

The HTC U Ultra is not a high performance phone when it comes to video recording but it does provide a slow motion function that is a little subdued due to the 720p 120fps limitation. Lumix GH5 10 Must See Videos!

Seems like the GH5 introduction has really made a splash on the web, TV tech news media and in enthusiast circles. The spec sheet alone is the most advanced of any DSLR or Mirror-less camera to date concerning the acquisition of professional video. There is however one setting that does interest us more than any other and that is the 180fps VFR mode on 1080p resolution.

Slow motion samples are very hard to come by on this pre production camera for what seems to be an unofficial lock on that feature with testers according to some rumors. Yi 4k+ Leaves Slowmo Unchanged in HD!

The Xiaomi Yi 4k+ Camera announced today at CES is revolutionary just barely by it’s 4k 60fps spec which is ahead of all other action cameras in the market. However 1080p and 720p resolutions have not seen a bump in frame rates with the cameras still doing the same specs as last year’s Yi 4k camera which is in turn the same spec as the GoPro Hero 4, 5 and Sony X3000 Action cameras.

The YI 4K+ uses the newest Amba H2 SOC, the first 14nm video processing/encoding SOC part which is quite fast and on the spec list fast enough for 120fps at 4k on AVCHD encode. This pixel rate is fast enough for 240fps at full 1080p or 480fps at 720p without maxing the system. Yi 4k+ however has remained conservative due to hardware limitations in other areas like imaging sensor and memory allocation to just 4k 60p recording. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Panasonic GH5 Doubles Performance at 180fps!

In what could be called a very tight circle of people in the know with no severe leaks until yesterday the Panasonic GH5 was a pretty well controlled launch. No one was really sure about the maximum frame rate at 1080p until a couple of days back when some leaks in Asia started to circulate 180fps in FHD as the number and sure enough the final spec did just that.

The GH4 was and continues to be a camera of choice for many video enthusiasts and film-makers so it was a tall order to best the camera and force a loyal following to upgrade and continue the cycle of continued improvements and sales.
