EOS 5D Mark 4 Rumored to have 120fps 1080p!

Canon is often accused of being too slow to react and update their line compared to the competition. However when you look back and see cameras like the 7D Mark 1 which introduced 60p 720p video to the EOS line it is much harder to judge them as other cameras topped at 30p.

The 5D Mark III has been a best selling camera for Canon but it is getting long in the tooth.  The lack of 4k video is a sore spot for the camera line that introduced cinematic looking footage to the masses. Xiaomi Yi II New 4k Camera Boosts Frame Rates!

The Xiaomi Yi Camera offered most of what the low end GoPro Hero cameras brought to the table but for much less money. Now Xiaomi is releasing the Xiaomi Yi II which is a 4k capable action camera sporting the Ambarella A9 chip with a Sony IMX377 sensor and an f2.8 lens.

For the price of $249.99 which is extremely low for a camera of this caliber; you get a 30p 4k capable imaging body with the added benefit of 240fps at 720p resolution, 120fps at 1080p and 960p and the 2k 60fps spec to boot.  For giggles there is also a pink version of the camera that might appeal to the female users. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

LG Action CAM LTE Does 120fps at 720p & 4k 30p!

LG Released the wrapping this week on the LG Action CAM LTE  which is a GoPro Hero Competitor that has a trick up it’s sleeve. The LTE Part means that you can add 4G LTE or 3G Data to the camera to stream live video over cellular data towers to potentially any internet connected server in the globe.

As to how powerful it will be remains to be seen but the use as a live car Dash Camera, home surveillance CCTV camera and streaming directly to Youtube, Facebook or Periscope seems a pretty incredible proposition at a maximum of 720p 30p over data. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Sony RX10 III Ships and Reviews Start to Show!

The Sony RX10 III has been the talk of the town as of late with an impressive lens 24-600mm 35mm equivalent  or 25x from wide to telephoto.  For us the value lies in the High frame rate or HFR mode that has the same specs as last year’s darlings the Sony RX100 IV and RX10 II.

At first glance the quality seems to be the same in terms of sensor response as all of these cameras share the exact same stacked 1″ sensor with blazing fast memory attached.  While the stills quality will not win any awards compared to 4/3, APS C or Full Frame cameras; it is still a big step up compared to small sensor P&S cams or smartphones. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

CRAFT Camera Modularity Promises 120fps!

Something that came out of NAB 2016 is the paper launch of the CRAFT Camera a modular low cost professional camera that can record in Pro Res and Cinema DNG RAW  with more formats to be announced.

It is unclear at this point if frame rates will ever be higher than 120fps but since the 4k spec also includes them; it remains a solid option for 4k slow motion at 120fps or 5x slow motion at 24p playback. Warning: The parent company of FPS cameras “The Slow Motion Camera Company Ltd.” went out of business and entered liquidation proceedings. No further development of cameras is expected. More information here on Google Search!
