Apr 1st 2015 – Unknown until now camera start-up company Black Square Imaging has released a rendered image of their current prototype camera the SFC-1M which aims to disrupt the slow motion camera market forever.

On the eve of March 31, 1999 the world was exposed to a new type of visual effect thanks to the release of a movie that changed and influenced movies for the next decade. The Bullet Time effect as it came to be known created a sense of slow motion combined with orbiting camera motion that let you for the first time move away from the constraints of a stationary or dolly only camera move.
(UPDATE March 30th 2015) The edgertronic camera on eBay finished without hitting the reserve price at $2350. Camera remains unsold for the time being! No word if it will be re-listed!
The edgertronic camera has been on the top of our HSC Guide for more than a year as the best performer for the price in slow motion. It has serious specs and performance to boot. While it is only 720p it is enough to create some spectacular footage for your scientific endeavors or video/film production.
The new Sony FDR-X1000V Action cam has been arriving to users and there is a lot to like. For starters the image stabilization while “Digital only not optical” is excellent and something GoPro needs to include in it’s offerings. There is some stuttering in heavy motion but does work very well. Resolution will be reduced by stabilization as the image borders are cropped on the Sony FDR-X1000V.
The color is very saturated the low light beats the GoPro easily when it comes to detail. It is still no low light champ but it does offer better performance than the Hero 4 Black.
Warning: The parent company of FPS cameras “The Slow Motion Camera Company Ltd.” went out of business and entered liquidation proceedings. No further development of cameras is expected. More information here on Google Search!
The development of the fps1000 high speed camera is heating up and it is advancing quickly and surprisingly well. The design was changed from a single board to two boards; with a logic and ports DSP processor and LCD controller on the Motherboard and a smaller sensor and memory combination daughterboard.
We have been getting quite a few messages with the question of what slow motion smart phone to get. The already proven iPhone 6 vs the up and coming Galaxy S6 especially the edge.
