The RED Scarlethas always had a stigma to it since inception. It was supposed to be a 3k camera for 3k USD back when it was planned. With a fixed lens and slow motion capabilities all while shooting REDCode RAW video. That camera never materialized and in turn the Red Scarlet with modularity was born. Not quite an Epic but also a lot more expensive than the original promise. It however delivered the image quality promised but not in the slow motion front. That is however until today with the Scarlet-W camera.
It has a 5K Full Frame (5120 x 2700) RED Dragon sensor with a 16.5 stops of dynamic range. That is some of the best DR numbers quoted for a motion digital camera. The Nikon 1 J5 was no secret since some leaks have been out for some time. However it is clear that the Nikon 1 line remains focused on speed be it still images or video. However they seem to be capping the frame rates on the HD side and upping the resolution in the 1200 and 400fps ranges by a few lines. We believe the reason is product separation so that the Nikon 1 V4 will be able to have some increase in specs while having the same basic internals.
The cat is out of the bag and the expected 120fps 720p of the Nikon D7200 has not materialized. Rumors pointed to an increase from 60p to 120p a first for a mirrored DSLR camera.
High frame rates have been stagnant in DSLRs since the Canon EOS 7D with 60fps at pseudo 720p resolution started the higher than 30p spec in mirrored large sensor cameras.
Now – a new rumor posted at Nikorumors.com of the Nikon D7200 DSLR which is replacing the very popular D7100, seems to gain 60fps at 720p to do a total of 120fps at 720p for the first time in a mirrored camera.
