The folks at Mirrorless Rumors have a new story based on an anonymous source that claims to know information about a super camera being tested at Samsung’s labs that can do among other things 480fps at 1080p resolution. Its also claimed to be 4k 120fps ready and using the Exynos 9810 SoC which is reserved for their high-end phones up to now.
These claims are too detailed and too extraordinary to be believed but the Exynos Chip should be able to process all of that data. The Rumor also states that it will be an APS-C chip with ISOCELL Technology on a stacked design capable of 30.1 Megapixels or 6720*4480px at 30p frame rates. The camera is a prototype according to the source and it is not known if it will be released as a real product in the future.→ Continue Reading Full Post ←
Samsunghas pulled out the German market with the Samsung NX1 camera for lack of adoption it seems or a big marketing failure. Will other markets be impacted in the future? It is quite a capable camera with 4k video and 120fps Full HD recording which currently sits in#11 in our Camera Guide for slow motion on a budget. While the line may continue in the future those prospects have become more doubtful in recent days with the announcement. The good news is that the camera may be heavily discounted by years end getting you a great bang for your buck with pretty respectable slow motion capabilities for a mirror-less camera.
Samsung has released an update to the Samsung NX1 4k Camera firmware now (Version 1.3) that among other things it improves the ease of use and selection of the high speed slow motion video 120fps mode. The improvements are varied and even ad a new USB control application to interface with the camera. Minor bug fixes and enhancements in workflow and usability are also added. The list of goodies below:
High frame rates have been stagnant in DSLRs since the Canon EOS 7D with 60fps at pseudo 720p resolution started the higher than 30p spec in mirrored large sensor cameras.
Now – a new rumor posted at Nikorumors.com of the Nikon D7200 DSLR which is replacing the very popular D7100, seems to gain 60fps at 720p to do a total of 120fps at 720p for the first time in a mirrored camera. Mirrorless cameras like theGH4, a7s, NX1 have already higher frame rate modes but this would be a first for a mirror slap DSLR. Here are the rumored specs:→ Continue Reading Full Post ←
Last year’s CES star camcorder marvels were the W850 and the V750 from Panasonic. Both cameras were capable of 1080p at 120fps progressive with a 240p interpolation mode that looked pretty good with low motion and high shutter speed.
This year we get the replacements in the line the HC-VX870 retails for $899US and the HC-VX970 will be $999US. Both shoot 4k video yes… let me say that again… both shoot 4k! They are carbon copies of themselves with one differentiating feature. The VX970 has an integrated selfie picture in picture camera attached to the flip screen. This is the same feature the W850 introduced last year. The VX870 has no selfie camera but allows a phone to connect and feed the secondary image to record in tandem. It is kind of gimmicky but for filming parents wanting to film their reaction when their toddlers take their first steps it can be a pretty priceless feature.→ Continue Reading Full Post ←
