edgertroinic SC2 Plus Review Verdict

Over the last four weeks testing and shooting with the edgertronic high speed camera we have a complete sense of the capabilities, strength and weaknesses that make up this kit. The portability of the setup with wireless router connectivity makes it a joy to go out and shoot nature and locations out of the studio.

Part 3 of this review will focus on the camera’s portable setup capability.   We will also go into a recent features introduced since the edgertronic SC1 was reviewed last year and things still left to add into the platform plus, a conclusion for the entire review. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

edgertronic SC2+ Review – Part 2

edgertroinic SC2 Review part 2

In Part 1 of this review we looked at the body and design of the edgertronic SC2+ camera. Touched on the mount and available frame rates including a few new changes and some video samples. Part two is all about using and understanding the abilities and limitations of the camera as a high speed tool for science, film and or curiosity.

With the advent of 4,456fps the edgertronic SC2+ is no slouch when it comes to sample events too quick for the eye to see. In fact for many uses it is just too slow; as in the case for people shots, many sports and a majority of nature shooting. However with the camera being this powerful you still can dial it back to 2000fps or 1000fps if needed easily while capturing those events perfectly. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

edgertronic SC2+ Review – Part 1

Last year we reviewed the edgertronic affordable high speed camera “Now named edgertronic SC1” . The first edgertronic was revolutionary in price and features and was a big disruptor in the slow motion camera space as many competitors that offered essentially the same performance, were left with price tags several orders of magnitude higher which many customers balked at .

fps1000 DragonflyPlatinum_byPeterCarsten

The fps1000 Platinum camera capable of 500fps at 720p resolution has started arriving at the doorstep of Kickstarter backers this week. Production is continuing to fill the backlog of orders and should proceed later on with other models like the fps1000 4k which we are expecting.

One of the first people to get the camera is Peter Carsten an early backer and he has started to post some footage tests of birds in flight with the camera. Peter was kind enough to share his footage and even a sample frame for us to test in our RAW DNG Converter. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

fps1000 May Update Shows 4k Prototype!

fps1000_4kBodyEFmount

The fps1000 May update shows for the first time the camera case with a compatible Canon EF mount attached of the Platinum 4k model.  However it is confirmed as well that some Platinum standard models which have a top recording rate of 720p HD at 500fps have been shipping in small quantities to backers.

There were some heat issues with the Platinum 4k when pushed to the higher frame rate spec and a new board with the corrections is already shipping back from manufacturing to be tested. This should be the last revision of the board and final testing should begin. → Continue Reading Full Post ←
