Lumix GH5 10 Must See Videos!

Lumix GH5 VFR Mode Menu

Seems like the GH5 introduction has really made a splash on the web, TV tech news media and in enthusiast circles. The spec sheet alone is the most advanced of any DSLR or Mirror-less camera to date concerning the acquisition of professional video.  There is however one setting that does interest us more than any other and that is the  180fps VFR mode on 1080p resolution.

Slow motion samples are very hard to come by on this pre production camera for what seems to be an unofficial lock on that feature with testers according to some rumors. However we have learned that the feature is not locked and it is available to everyone on the test units but it requires UHS II U3 SDXC cards which many users simply did not have available. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Panasonic GH5 Doubles Performance at 180fps!

Panasonic GH5

In what could be called a very tight circle of people in the know with no severe leaks until yesterday the Panasonic GH5 was a pretty well controlled launch.  No one was really sure about the maximum frame rate at 1080p until a couple of days back when some leaks in Asia started to circulate 180fps in FHD as the number and sure enough the final spec did just that.

The GH4 was and continues to be a camera of choice for many video enthusiasts and film-makers so it was a tall order to best the camera and force a loyal following to upgrade and continue the cycle of continued improvements and sales. The GH4 was a success for Panasonic’s Lumix division more than any GH camera before it and they have listened to professional users and have made it even more of a powerhouse. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Panasonic GH5 Updated New Specs!

Panasonic GH5 Updated New Specs

The Panasonic GH4 still is a very popular camera for enthusiasts, film makers and mirror-less fans.  It is one of the few high quality consumer priced cameras that shoot 4k still today two years after it’s introduction.  It is a tall order to improve on it sufficiently to warrant current owners to upgrade in droves and make long time Canon, Nikon or Sony owners witch to the Lumix Micro 4/3ds platform. The specs for the Panasonic GH5 continue to flow from a few months back when it was first teased by Panasonic; some of the new info seems to be from controlled marketing leaks to keep interest in the product but so far when it comes to higher frame rates we are still waiting for any confirmation of a 120fps spec. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Sony a6500 New Slow Motion Samples!

Sony a6500 New Slow Motion Samples

We have now a fairly good amount of slow motion samples for the Sony a6500 compact APS-C Camera to share with you.  It is clear that the quality this camera can provide is above the norm but we still do see some aliasing in diagonal fine lines which is to be expected by a sensor that is skipping some of the lines to achieve 1080p 120fps.

While the 4k UHD in this camera is derived from an oversampling of 6k; the 1080p 120fps is being extracted from a 24.2MP sensor using a 13MP effective crop factor 1.9x;  is throwing away some line information to get there. Also the camera caps frame rate output over HDMI at 60fps so there is no way to record super slow motion to an external recorder at 120fps. → Continue Reading Full Post ←
