Slow Motion Educational Videos!

Slow Motion Educational Videos

We want to share a few videos that explain the principles behind slow motion video shooting. There is a lot of confusion when it comes to slow motion; how to shoot it, how to play it back and the dos and don’ts to get the best footage possible.  The principles of shutter speed, light sensitivity, triggering and playback are all based on classical photography techniques with the main difference being extremely short time-scales and the need for inordinate amounts of light… but it can get tricky!

The internet is an information tool that democratizes the ability of the audience to learn and experience new information shared by millions of individuals. Gladly this also includes high speed camera information and sample videos.  Be sure to subscribe to the channels behind these videos so that they can continue sharing their knowledge with all of us. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

HTC U Ultra & New Slow Motion Videos!

HTC U Ultra

We have five recent slow motion videos that may peak your interest plus a new HTC Phone released with a slow motion function.  While there has been a quiet front in the phone space slow motion since the introduction of the Google Pixel last year; we expect great things in 2017 like the announcement of the Galaxy S8 and iPhone 7s among others.

The HTC U Ultra is not a high performance phone when it comes to video recording but it does provide a slow motion function that is a little subdued due to the 720p 120fps limitation. The HTC U Ultra Phone  has no headphone Jack as will be the trend going forward since the iPhone 7 started making it more mainstream “though not the first”. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Yi 4k+ Leaves Slowmo Unchanged in HD!

Yi 4k+

The Xiaomi Yi 4k+ Camera announced today at CES is revolutionary just barely by it’s 4k 60fps spec which is ahead of all other action cameras in the market. However 1080p and 720p resolutions have not seen a bump in frame rates with the cameras still doing the same specs as last year’s Yi 4k camera which is in turn the same spec as the GoPro Hero 4, 5 and Sony X3000 Action cameras.

The YI 4K+ uses the newest Amba H2 SOC, the first 14nm video processing/encoding SOC part which is quite fast and on the spec list fast enough for 120fps at 4k on AVCHD encode.  This pixel rate is fast enough for 240fps at full 1080p or  480fps at 720p without maxing the system.  Yi 4k+ however has remained conservative due to hardware limitations in other areas like imaging sensor and memory allocation to just 4k 60p recording. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Yi 4k+ To make debut at CES Improved Specs!

Yi 4k+

The Xiaomi Yi 4k Action camera was one of the biggest breakthroughs in quality over price when it came to action camera clones. It is literally a direct GoPro Hero 4,5 and Sony Action Cam rival with very close specs and performance but with a price tag of $199 it really is in a category all by itself.

The current Yi 4k camera is no slouch in the specs department but recently leaked information shows that the Yi 4k+ will have at least twice the processing power for 4k video and some hint at even faster frame rates. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Barnacle Action Camera 2.0 with Slowmo!

Barnacle Action Camera 2.0

The Barnacle Action Camera 2.0 is a Kickstarter project from Canberra Australia, that aims to democratize good quality action cameras for every one.  They have just 14 days left in their funding goal with just under 1/3rd of the required pledge total.  This is an unconventional camera that aims to go toe to toe with the best action cameras out there.

The shape and tiny size is different with everything controlled from Apple or Android devices besides a basic power and record buttons on the top of the camera.  It however aims at the professional market with features that are usually twice the cost on other brands. It is a decent camera for very little money in the end. → Continue Reading Full Post ←
