Right on the rumor heels of the LX8 we get a new camera from Panasonic. The FZ1000 looks like a GH4 only larger and with a huge lens (Non Interchangeable). The specs on the camera surprised us and it follows our slow motion estimation for improvement.
Several sites have been trying out the Sony RX100 mk III and have finally been sharing their results along with video samples.
Sadly the 120fps 720pmode is resolution starved and soft. However it does look a little bit better than many cameras in the price bracket. After looking at the quality, we matched it to be just a smidge better than the iPhone 5s but just a tad below the GoPro Hero 3+ when it comes to 120fps slow motion. Specs wise not much is known but the claims say that a 1″ sensor and Electronic View Finder EVF not unlike that of the Sony RX100 mkIII will be the big upgrades. The Panasonic LX7 does great slow motion at 720p 120fps with quality too good for something this small. It will be premature to predict but the logical progression for the LX8 is to offer 120fps at 1080p and 240fps at 720p. After two weeks with the Panasonic Lumix GH4 we have finally put the variable frame rate VFR mode through it’s paces and explored every setting for strengths and weaknesses. See video below:
Out of left field in the 1″ inch compact camera category the replacement of the RX100 II, the new Sony DSC RX100 III has impressive video specs for such a small pocketable camera.
For starters it shoots regular 1080p at 60p at 50 Mbps in XAVC S or MP4 and or AVHD 2.0 formats. Higher quality than many pro SLRs. Further along the spec list it allows for a 120fps 720 HD mode at also 50 Mbps in the same format selection.→ Continue Reading Full Post ←
