iPhone 7 Slow Motion Tests and Examples!

iPhone 7 Slow Motion

We waited long enough and now we have real world samples and comparison tests from the iPhone 7 in regards to higher frame rates. The iPhone 6s was the king of slow motion quality last year and now there were high hopes for the iPhone 7 to continue that reign however what comes down to is a mix of technology stagnation with a measure of slight improvement when it comes to shutter speed control and detail.

The iPhone 7 does 120fps 1080p as well as 720p at 240fps which is the same spec as last year’s iPhone 6s and a continuation of the feature. It has been used in many productions big and small as a crash camera for hard to get shots and some fun slow motion YouTube clips. The iPhone 7 may not be the best slow motion phone out there when it comes to quality but since it is the most ubiquitous; we are sure to see it grace your screen more often than the competition. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

iPhone 7 Slow Motion Remains The Same!

iPhone 7 camera

There was a lot of expectation regarding the slow motion capability of the iPhone 7.  Apple has been dominating the spec since the early days on the iPhone 4s. However while the processing and sensor quality have improved; the resolution and frame rates have stayed the same in the iPhone 7.   There are huge speed increases and much more memory available to do a lot of things in video but Apple has chosen to stay at the same spec level in it’s latest phone.

The slow motion performance of the phone has improved with every iteration when it comes to quality and it will probably have a better dynamic range rating as well as better overall noise control. The spec remains at the top range in smart phones but it is not pushing the boundaries of what can be done in current hardware. We were expecting 480fps at 720p and 240fps at 1080p as possibly moving forward with the feature. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Galaxy Note 7 Slow Motion Samples!

Galaxy Note 7

As expected the Galaxy Note 7 was announced this week and has the same camera specs as the most popular flagship phone from Samsung the Galaxy S7.  It does have some new tricks up it’s sleeve aside from the customary S Pen. It has for the first time in a Samsung phone an Iris scanner for security unlocking and now USB Type C which many phones already sport.

It is basically a Galaxy S7 Edge with a larger screen, a pen and an Iris Scanner with IP68 Water resistance.  We would not take it in the ocean but should withstand moderate immersion and or splashes. This may be the best Note phone yet but it is also the most uneventful in the line since most if it’s specs are already present in the S7 line.  The Note phones used to be about the most forward looking specs, this time around Samsung stuck with the proven  formula of the S7 which is the #1 Selling Android phone for 2016. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Galaxy Note 7 Will Share S7 Slowmo Specs!

Galaxy Note 7

The Galaxy Note 7 is expected to be released the 15th of August 2016, just a few weeks from now.  There have been a few spec leaks that will put to rest the video capabilities of the phone.  While these may change at release time; the amount of confirmation makes the information more reliable so close to the unveil.

The camera specs look to be identical in scope and capability to that of the excellent Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Active and S7 Edge which is one of the best performing portable phone cameras ever released. Low noise, great detail and dynamic range that is orders of magnitude better than what the same flagships sported just a short 4 years ago. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Panavision DXL Makes 8k 75fps possible!

Panavision DXL

Panavision the company that brought you the Genesis digital cinema camera which many credit for jump starting true digital cinematography for the big screen has done it again with the Panavision DXL.  An 8k 8192 x 4320 camera capable of recording higher frame rates at that resolution than what many 4k resolution options have still to achieve.

The company doesn’t offer a table or indication of slow motion high speed frame rates in the specs as the maximum frame rate they tout is 75fps at 8K 2.4:1 (8192 x 3456) which is slightly shorter in the vertical frame than the full capability which maxes at 60fps at the highest resolution. RED is heavily involved in the DXL by supplying the sensor, color science, REDCODE RAW Codec and many design cues. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Galaxy S7 Active Offers Rugged 720p 240fps!

S7ActiveCamo

Samsung as it is customary has released the rugged version of their flagship Galaxy phone in this case the Galaxy S7 Active.  The Phone is IP68 water resistant which is not for scuba or snorkeling but will allow for it to be used in heavy rain, wash it and or for that accidental drop into the sink or puddle.

The Phone did not improve the video specs on the fabulous Galaxy S7 camera but has directly translated the performance; furthermore is might be the first Active phone that may be usable without a protective case of any kind do to it’s new Poly carbonate screen layer which makes it shatter resistance above and beyond what common Gorilla glass can withstand. → Continue Reading Full Post ←
