Galaxy S8 Slow Motion Underwhelms!

It seems the entire internet was taken for a ride to rumorville with the supposed spec leak of 1000fps slow motion on the Galaxy S8. The final phone is not only not including the spec but it is still lower when it comes to higher frame rates than the iPhone 6s, 7, Google Pixel and Xperia XZs and XZ Premium. The phone maxes out at 720p 240fps which is so 2014 when it comes to high speed.

When it comes to 4k the rumors also touted 4k at 60fps, even some sites out there still list the phone as a UHD 60fps capable handset. It is only in the end a 4k UHD 30fps phone with 1080p 60fps and 720p 240fps. Galaxy S8 1000fps Rumor!

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is the most anticipated Android phone announcement of 2017. The latest rumors suggest that the phone will feature fast DRAM attached to the camera module sensor package in a similar way to Sony’s Xperia XZ Premium announcement last month. This is the same technology that is present on the Sony RX Camera series.

Galaxy S8 Hints Better High Frame Rates!

The Samsung Note 7 was an unmitigated disaster for Samsung last year and continues to have a lasting effect on many consumers when deciding for a phone. However Samsung according to recent disclosures on the causes of the battery fires on the Note 7 has now learned a lot from these mistakes and has pushed forward with innovative handsets scheduled for this year.

Chief among these new handsets is the Galaxy S8 which should provide a much expected upgrades and new features to the most sold Android phone worldwide. Ambarella H3 Paves Way for Portable 8k Video!

Ambarella has introduced two new SoC chipsets for portable electronics that shoot video. The H3 capable of up to 8k video or dual 4k 60fps streams for 360º VR video and also the H22 which is a souped up version of the H2 found on cameras like the Yi 4k+ that will be shooting 4k 60p and up to 120fps 1080p video.

No real leads were given into what specific cameras will be incorporating the new chipset but from indications of past releases it is safe to say that the best action cameras, some high end phones and drone centric cameras will be sporting this new SoC in their specs by the end of this year. Galaxy Note 7 Slow Motion Samples!

As expected the Galaxy Note 7 was announced this week and has the same camera specs as the most popular flagship phone from Samsung the Galaxy S7. It does have some new tricks up it’s sleeve aside from the customary S Pen. It has for the first time in a Samsung phone an Iris scanner for security unlocking and now USB Type C which many phones already sport.

It is basically a Galaxy S7 Edge with a larger screen, a pen and an Iris Scanner with IP68 Water resistance. We would not take it in the ocean but should withstand moderate immersion and or splashes. This may be the best Note phone yet but it is also the most uneventful in the line since most if it’s specs are already present in the S7 line. Lenovo ZUK Z2 960fps Slow Motion Just Interpolation!

The slow motion phone that was gathering a lot of interest regarding it’s capability was the Lenovo Zuk Z2 Pro with a spec reported to be 960fps. Such a spec would leapfrog the current iPhone 6s and Google’s Nexus 6P 240fps 720p spec. However it seems such bold claims are usually met with a reality that does not match such claims.

The Youtube channel C4ETech “Subscribe Here” has had a go with the Zuk Z2 and found that the spec is pretty much smoke and mirrors. The 960fps spec which was supposed to be HD quality and full frames is nothing more than 120fps 720p interpolated by software up to 960fps.
