Typhoon H Drone by Yuneec has 120fps FHD

Typhoon H

The Drone market has started to heat up when it comes to professional features in the mid range pricing space. The Phantom 4 by DJI showed us that collision avoidance and obstacle awareness as a built in feature can stay within the realm of fairly priced drones.

Now the Typhoon H Drone by Yuneec an established electric aviation company with it’s 4k camera capable of slow motion 120fps at 1080p which is competitive with DJI’s is trying to compete head to head with some great technologies that the Phantom does not offer like a 6 rotor design that gives redundancy if one of the propellers should fail mid flight. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Panavision DXL Makes 8k 75fps possible!

Panavision DXL

Panavision the company that brought you the Genesis digital cinema camera which many credit for jump starting true digital cinematography for the big screen has done it again with the Panavision DXL.  An 8k 8192 x 4320 camera capable of recording higher frame rates at that resolution than what many 4k resolution options have still to achieve.

The company doesn’t offer a table or indication of slow motion high speed frame rates in the specs as the maximum frame rate they tout is 75fps at 8K 2.4:1 (8192 x 3456) which is slightly shorter in the vertical frame than the full capability which maxes at 60fps at the highest resolution. RED is heavily involved in the DXL by supplying the sensor, color science, REDCODE RAW Codec and many design cues. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Ono U1 Resurfaces Attends GSMA Mobile WC!

Ono U1 U1 Labs

The Ono U1 Smartphone is showing signs of life again after almost completely disappearing from existence.   The team has posted a Facebook update that shows their upcoming participation in the GSMA Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2016 June 29th to July 1st.

As to what they will present we are not sure; there are questions on the post by interested people about the 480fps frame rate capability on the Ono U1 already and so far no answers have been posted, but that could change.  We may actually see a phone by then and if high frame rates are included it will be a welcome surprise. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Zuk Z2 960fps video resolution decoded!

Zuk Z2 Lenovo

The Zuk Z2 has been released and as it’s customary from many manufacturers they omit the slow motion or just mention it as an afterthought.  According to the press release it does support 960fps video recording but nothing else is mentioned.   There is a mention of the feature still not active in the pre release phone due to software lag which will be released at a later date.

That however has not deterred us from crunching some numbers and getting a good estimate from the Samsung 13MP ISOCELL sensor used  which gives us clues as to what to expect in terms of higher frame rate support.  lets dig in! → Continue Reading Full Post ←

EOS 5D Mark 4 Rumored to have 120fps 1080p!

EOS5DMark4Rumor

Canon is often accused of being too slow to react and update their line compared to the competition. However when you look back and see cameras like the 7D Mark 1 which introduced 60p 720p video to the EOS line it is much harder to judge them as other cameras topped at 30p.

The 5D Mark III has been a best selling camera for Canon but it is getting long in the tooth.  The lack of 4k video is a sore spot for the camera line that introduced cinematic looking footage to the masses. The upcoming 5D mark IV (4) rumors suggest that not only 4k is in the cards but 1080p 120fps as well. → Continue Reading Full Post ←
