ZTE Axon 7 Phone Joins the 240fps club!

The Chinese Smartphone Maker ZTE has released the Axon 7 handset with some impressive camera features like a newly released 20MP Samsung ISOCELL sensor, F1.8 lens aperture, sapphire glass lens front element for scratch-proof and flare resistance, optical image stabilization in the lens elements and dual pixel on-sensor phase detection auto-focus; not to mention a handy dual LED Flash.

Xiaomi Yi II New 4k Camera Boosts Frame Rates!

The Xiaomi Yi Camera offered most of what the low end GoPro Hero cameras brought to the table but for much less money. Now Xiaomi is releasing the Xiaomi Yi II which is a 4k capable action camera sporting the Ambarella A9 chip with a Sony IMX377 sensor and an f2.8 lens.

For the price of $249.99 which is extremely low for a camera of this caliber; you get a 30p 4k capable imaging body with the added benefit of 240fps at 720p resolution, 120fps at 1080p and 960p and the 2k 60fps spec to boot. Lenovo ZUK Z2 Pro will have 960fps Video Confirmed!

This week’s announcement of the Lenovo ZUK Z2 Pro smartphone has been plagued with misinformation and spec sheets that were not complete. We have received a full spec sheet for the phone now translated from Chinese that confirms the existence of 960fps video.

The phone will have 4k UHD video as well and a plethora of features that are completely new in smartphones like the ability to read wet fingerprints with it’s sensor and several health directed sensors like UV light, heart rate and blood oxygen which were also present in the Galaxy S6 last year. Kinefinity Terra 5k & 6K Offer up to 225fps!

The Chinese cinema camera company Kinefinity is adding two new models of cameras at this Year’s NAB event in Las Vegas. The Kinefinity Terra 5k and 6k Models. They differ in sensor and abilities with prices that just 5 years ago would have commanded much higher tiers.

Last Year’s Kinemax 6k and 4k graced our Camera Guide with a good showing now occupying 10th and 14th place but now they are aiming much much higher with better RAW frame rates up to 225fps in 2k and lower price points than most of the RAW capable competitors in the space. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Galaxy S7 Slow Motion Samples!

Seems that Samsung has hit a home run with the Galaxy S7 smartphone release. It has broken their order records and they are positioned to report improved earnings of 10.4% in part because of the S7. It seems the decision to re introduce water resistance, a swappable battery and expandable memory has given back some of the identity they lost with the S6 line.

This time we look at the recent footage from owners of the phone to see the slow motion quality improvements made to the phone. While they skipped full HD 1080p 120fps which the iPhone 6s has; they did improve the 720p mode with 240fps. Galaxy S7 brings 240fps at 720p but Skips FHD!

Mobile World Congress in Barcelona came and went and two phones are the real stars of the show. The Galaxy S7 by Samsung and the LG G5 which are both of the most anticipated Android phones ever. The Korean companies go head to head on features and looks and while they are close in specs they differ a lot when it comes to camera specs and the fine details.

The LG G5 disappoints by only being able to record at 1080p 60fps which tops it’s frame rate recording. This is even a step down from the LG G4 which recorded 120fps at 720p. The LG G5 as a slow motion phone is now off the table. Which leaves us with the Samsung Galaxy S7 and it’s near twin the Galaxy S7 Edge with a curved screen but same specs. → Continue Reading Full Post ←
