Huawei Mate 10 Hints Slow Motion Feature?

In a recent video release of what is rumored to be the Huawei Mate 10 phone, we noticed several clips cut in the teaser shot in slow motion with good quality. If these are shot with the new Leica branded dual camera module from Huawei; it may be the slow motion phone to show Sony competition this year.

The cameras on the rear side of the phone hint at a 12MP color module and a 20MP monochrome detail module. The 12MP sensor will probably be used for the slow motion recording if it pans out. OnePlus 5 Slow Motion Video Samples!

Now that the OnePlus 5 Phone has been shipping to customers for a few weeks it is time to re-visit the phone and the slow motion footage it can record. We were disappointed by the 120fps 720p limitation on the phone since most new flagship handsets aim at the 120fps 1080p and 240fps 720p spec as a competitive plateau. Still, the OnePlus phones are very popular worldwide with the mix of great optics, lack of software bloatware and true performance unencumbered by ROMs that slow the phone down.

It is true that the phone slow motion will not win any prizes due to slight compression artifacts and aliasing that shows the sensor is skipping lines and applying a lower bitrate at the end. RED Hydrogen Phone for High Speed?

So we have gotten a lot of speculative emails regarding the RED Hydrogen phone teaser announcement. There are no real specs listed, only pricing which for Aluminum $1195 and Titanium $1595 USD is no bargain. It will be an Android phone with a revolutionary Holographic display capable of doing 2D-3D and holographic multiview which will be a mixture of the two.

The phone will also be a possible monitoring device for RED camera owners which will be able to control the cameras from the device. If you are a RED owner it makes sense to have this as your phone and we expect most RED camera owners to own the device or pre-order. One Plus 5 Debuts With Only 720p 120fps!

There were a lot of expectations for the phone that would replace the One Plus 3T which was a mighty seller for the performance hungry crowd without the high price tag that typically goes along with the best phones. The new One Plus 5 is a good upgrade from the One Plus 3 and 3T in that the performance goes neck and neck with the best of the best out there and tied with the Samsung Galaxy S8 in benchmarks.

The tale, however, is not completely rosy as the camera module taking a page from the iPhone 7 Plus includes two camera sensor modules, one for wide-angle at 16MP and the other for telephoto with 20MP resolution. We say it falls short because the slow motion frame rates are pegged to a 720p resolution and only at 120fps. Galaxy S8 Slow Motion Underwhelms!

It seems the entire internet was taken for a ride to rumorville with the supposed spec leak of 1000fps slow motion on the Galaxy S8. The final phone is not only not including the spec but it is still lower when it comes to higher frame rates than the iPhone 6s, 7, Google Pixel and Xperia XZs and XZ Premium. The phone maxes out at 720p 240fps which is so 2014 when it comes to high speed.

When it comes to 4k the rumors also touted 4k at 60fps, even some sites out there still list the phone as a UHD 60fps capable handset. It is only in the end a 4k UHD 30fps phone with 1080p 60fps and 720p 240fps. Galaxy S8 1000fps Rumor!

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is the most anticipated Android phone announcement of 2017. The latest rumors suggest that the phone will feature fast DRAM attached to the camera module sensor package in a similar way to Sony’s Xperia XZ Premium announcement last month. This is the same technology that is present on the Sony RX Camera series.
