iPod Touch Upgraded with 120fps HD!

Apple has upgraded without a lot of fanfare the iPod Touch and it brings in a bunch of performance improvements that take it closer to what the iPhone can do without actually becoming a phone. One of these features is a 120fps HD 720p video capture mode akin to that one on the iPhone 5 and iPhone 6.  Sadly no 240fps video mode has been included in this device.

Many question the existence of such a device in this day of cheap smartphones with similar capabilities but the product still fills a niche market of people not wanting to pay for a wireless phone plan in order to be exposed to the Apple ecosystem of apps and features. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Nikon 1 J5 Improves Slowmo Resolution!

The Nikon 1 J5 was no secret since some leaks have been out for some time.  However it is clear that the Nikon 1 line remains focused on speed be it still images or video.  However they seem to be capping the frame rates on the HD side and upping the resolution in the 1200 and 400fps ranges by a few lines. We believe the reason is product separation so that the Nikon 1 V4 will be able to have some increase in specs while having the same basic internals.

GH4 firmware update 2.1 – No Slowmo Improvements!

Today Panasonic has released the GH4 Firmware v2.1.  It is mainly a usability/performance and external recorder update. No slow motion bit rate or frame rate improvements on this release. We analyzed a before and after on the files and detected no change in data.  However recorded 4k footage has performance improvements.  It is good to see that the camera continues to be updated by Panasonic and adding features filmmakers care about.
