Nikon 1 V3, J4 and Pentax XG-1 Recount!

The Nikon 1  system with it’s one 1″ inch is one of the most promising camera lines regarding slow motion. With several modes unthinkable at this price point for decades. While the resolution is not HD, it can work for motion analysis and scientific purposes quite well.

Dpreview just posted it’s final review of the Nikon 1 V3 and it liked it a lot for its overwhelming set of features, it tallied a respectable 76% in their scale. Nikon 1 J4 Has Strong Slow Mo Punch!

The Nikon 1 System is becoming more widespread with the arrival of the Nikon 1 J4.  Sharing the same 1″ inch sensor size and a variety of Nikon 1 lens choices for the system. Nikon 1 V3 120 frames 720p in an ILC!

Nikon’s new 1 v3 camera has some pretty impressive specs regarding hi-speed video.

  • 120p at 1280*720   HD  (Time duration not specified)
  • 60p at 1920*1080 Full HD  for 10min
  • 768 x 288/400 fps (aspect ratio 8:3; plays at 30p/29.97 fps) */
  • 416 x 144/1200 fps (aspect ratio 8:3; plays at 30p/29.97 fps)  */
  • MSRP $1,199 USD
*/ Hi Speed Cams doesn’t consider these resolutions to be usable for professional work.  It might be good to have them for scientific purposes but not for video quality that can inter-cut with professionally shot material.
