The story behind the edgertronic camera is very compelling, Mike Matter and Juan Pineda have created a block camera that captures 700fps at 720p with interchangeable Nikon Mount. All with a dream and the support of kickstarter backers.
Nikon 1 V3 120 frames 720p in an ILC!
Nikon’s new 1 v3 camera has some pretty impressive specs regarding hi-speed video.
- 120p at 1280*720 HD (Time duration not specified)
- 60p at 1920*1080 Full HD for 10min
- 768 x 288/400 fps (aspect ratio 8:3; plays at 30p/29.97 fps) */
- 416 x 144/1200 fps (aspect ratio 8:3; plays at 30p/29.97 fps) */
- MSRP $1,199 USD
*/ Hi Speed Cams doesn’t consider these resolutions to be usable for professional work. It might be good to have them for scientific purposes but not for video quality that can inter-cut with professionally shot material.
We still have no samples from the 120p mode but it might produce a very clean image since Nikon’s 60p mode is very good in recent cameras.

Ever since I got into digital imaging at the end of the 1990s I was very interested in Hi Speed Video Imaging. Over the years I have seen the price of these digital wonders go down in price considerably and are now close to what you would call affordable for the enthusiast.
I have produced a few footage videos for my stock videography work over the years with slow motion/hi speed cameras but have never been able to use, rent or own a truly professional hi speed camera.
