The Nikon 1 system with it’s one 1″ inch is one of the most promising camera lines regarding slow motion. With several modes unthinkable at this price point for decades. While the resolution is not HD, it can work for motion analysis and scientific purposes quite well.
Dpreview just posted it’s final review of the Nikon 1 V3 and it liked it a lot for its overwhelming set of features, it tallied a respectable 76% in their scale. The image quality is not as good as larger sensor cameras to be expected but it has its charm and versatility in a very small form factor.→ Continue Reading Full Post ←
Out of all the tests possible with these cameras it seems slow motion is the last on the list. However we have found some examples from both the Sony a7s in 720p 120fps mode and the Panasonic FZ1000 in 100fps full HD 1080.
Right on the rumor heels of the LX8 we get a new camera from Panasonic. The FZ1000 looks like a GH4 only larger and with a huge lens (Non Interchangeable). The specs on the camera surprised us and it follows our slow motion estimation for improvement.
Specs wise not much is known but the claims say that a 1″ sensor and Electronic View Finder EVF not unlike that of the Sony RX100 mkIII will be the big upgrades. The Panasonic LX7 does great slow motion at 720p 120fps with quality too good for something this small. It will be premature to predict but the logical progression for the LX8 is to offer 120fps at 1080p and 240fps at 720p. Don’t hold your breath but if this camera delivers it might become the next best thing in cheap quality Slow Motion.→ Continue Reading Full Post ←
While we test the Panasonic Lumix GH4 slow motion mode we have come across the fact that the 96fps mode is actually better than expected at above 720p resolution. Many claims suggested that it was just 720 up-resed to 1080p and leave it at that.
We have received out GH4 and will have some slow mo samples and final image quality analysis soon.
While these parodies have gotten quite a few billion views over the years we at HSC thought the GH4 slow motion mode and features needed one video of it’s own. Make sure you turn on CC (Close Captioning) So you can read the lines. in the mean time…Enjoy!
