Fastec Imaging known for very capable but very expensive high speed cameras for scientific and video production/cinema has announced a new camera based on the same TS3-TS4 Cine platform they initially released a few years back at NAB which has been extremely popular for rental and ownership.
The camera is called the Fastec TS5-H which is an upgrade from previous TS cameras as it delivers full HD performance with a newly developed sensor at speeds up to 634fps at 1080p. 720p on the other hand delivers 943fps which is very close to the 1000fps realm that is almost negligible. Garmin has decided to upgrade their action VIRB cameras to a more competitive GoPro Like form factor with an impressive set of features that is sure to make adrenaline enthusiasts think twice about what camera to get.
What sets it apart is that the new Garmin VIRB cameras record, altitude, GPS, velocity, rotation, temperature in the file information as vectors to be applied to the footage later for analysis. As the video below shows, it is quite a revolutionary way of recording your adventure. While some might look at it like a gimmick, it is by no means a useless feature. It has been nearly 6 years since the EOS 7D DSLR was introduced in September 2009. That was the last time canon offered a frame rate bump which was 720p at 60fps. It was an ok mode but highly aliased and of low quality. Now Canon has unveiled two new cameras that jump the frame rate to 120fps. The first camera is the all inclusive Canon XC10 which is like a new incarnation of the all in one do it all camera with some pro features that seem to separate it from cameras like the Panasonic FZ1000 MSRP $749.
Warning: The parent company of FPS cameras “The Slow Motion Camera Company Ltd.” went out of business and entered liquidation proceedings. No further development of cameras is expected. More information here on Google Search!

The Nikon 1 J5 was no secret since some leaks have been out for some time. However it is clear that the Nikon 1 line remains focused on speed be it still images or video. However they seem to be capping the frame rates on the HD side and upping the resolution in the 1200 and 400fps ranges by a few lines. We believe the reason is product separation so that the Nikon 1 V4 will be able to have some increase in specs while having the same basic internals.
