Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 Remain at 120fps 720p!

Looks like the rumors got it wrong again in regards to the 240fps for the Samsung Galaxy S6.  They did however hit it with the 720p at 120fps slow motion mode for both the Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 phones. This is basically the same spec most high end phones that did slow motion sported. What broke the trend is the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus with 240fps at 720p.

ARM Cortex A72 Capable of 120fps at 4k!

The specs for the newest and greatest ARM phone chip the A72, show that it is close to 3.5 times more powerful than ARM’s previously released Cortex-A15. It is also powerful enough to record and process 4K video at a rate of 120 frames per second.  

While the specs of this 32 and 64bit capable chip look mighty impressive it is a predictor of things to come. These reference design chips are used for example by Apple in their A architecture because the company has  an architectural license agreement with ARM; that has proved to be an amazing performer because Apple tweaks the design to perform incredibly fast in their devices sometimes above 50% from the reference design in some specific applications. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Slow Motion Videos End Of Year

2014 has been a very interesting year for slow motion. We saw a new crop of cameras sport frame rates that will set new standards for affordable slowmo for years to come. We had the edgertronic shipping in quantity and the Kickstarter fps1000 surprise that promises unrivaled slow motion in full HD and even 4k at unheard of prices.  Phones like the iPhone 6 now sport 240fps and the Mediatek MT6595, MT6795 chips offer the possibility of 480fps at full 1080p.

2015 will probably be the year of the slow motion HD phone as it seems the feature is a way for brands to differentiate phone specs.  Like the megapixel spec race, the slow-mo race is now in motion.   We want to share some of the slow motion footage we have come across this year and thank you again for your support.
