Motorola Mobility now an arm of the Lenovo Corporation has just announced the Moto Z2 Force Edition which is the next iteration of their Z Force original from 2016 which was a Verizon only product. The phone while somewhat popular never really gained enough market share to become important in the high-end smartphone space. The Z2 Force retains the unbreakable screen design which uses a protective plastic top layer before the glass.

The recently announced Hasselblad True Zoom is an add on module for the Moto Z + Moto Mods™ smartphone platform which lets you add modules to your already very capable phone to increase it’s feature set. A Pico Projector, a much larger battery, a JBL speaker set and now the Hasselblad True Zoom 10x Optical zoom are the current back plate options for this new ecosystem.
What may look like a gimmick to some; it may be the advent of a personalized and very powerful experience for the future of smartphone use. What if you could add the advantages of a larger camera sensor and higher frame rates with built in processing to your phone when needed. What if you could add a built in microscope back plate to the phone for biologists on the field or a sensor module for tracking scientific concepts with the phone as a central part of experiments. The rumor mill is heating up when it comes to the third generation Moto X phone from Motorola Mobility. The struggling company subset of the once mighty Motorola went from selling their mobile phone arm to Google in 2011; which then offloaded in 2014 to Chinese Lenovo best known as a PC manufacturer that took over the manufacturing and re branding of IBM Laptops.
The Moto X has been a popular phone but not one with class leading specs. As it turns out the rumors still follow the mantra of being a follower in feature set rather than being innovators. The phones haven’t been stale hardware; far from it actually.
