HTC U11 Plus Does 120fps Full HD 1080p!

The HTC U11+ is a refined version of the U11 which was one of the better spec android phones of 2017. The new iteration boosts speed and a screen that goes from 5.5 inches to 6 inches. Space was accommodated for a larger screen without making the phone itself much bigger which is a feat of design and engineering.

For many, the big disappointment will be that it seems HTC is not making a US version of the U11 Plus and leaving it only for Asia and Europe at this time. The US market is very competitive and HTC has had a hard time penetrating the sales ranks of the Samsung, Apple and Google phones. LG V30 Best Video Recording Phone?

Move over Apple, the LG V30 recently released might be the best available video recording smart-phone ever. In fact the LG V30 is not high on slow motion frame rates, topping at 240fps 720p and does not have 60fps 4k like the latest iPhones but has an ace up it’s sleeve that might catapult the phone to be #1 among video recording professionals that want a phone they can use alongside their expensive dedicated video gear.

The LG V30 has 10 bit color for starters recorded to its flat profile called LG Cine-Log format which is very close to implementations from Sony, Canon & Panasonic Log formats. Google Pixel 2 Slow Motion Stays The Same!

The Google Pixel 2 and 2 XL have been unveiled and to put it simply the slow motion component has received no change. We are disappointed that the 120fps 1080p mode is the highest frame rate at that resolution when Apple’s iPhone 8 and X max out at 240fps 1080p. The 240fps spec on the Pixel 2 is the same also as the first Pixel phones at only 720p.

In 2016 we tied the iPhone 7 with the Google Pixel as equals in the slow motion game but it is clear that Google has dropped the ball with this release by not being particularly strong in the video side as Apple even has 4k 60fps added on their new phones when the Pixel 2 and 2 XL max out at 30fps. iPhone 8 Slow Motion Samples Huge Improvement!

Apple has really improved the slow-motion quality of the iPhone with the release of the 8, 8 plus and X phones. The 1080p 240fps mode is not only detailed but has very few aliasing artifacts that were the most prominent flaw of the 7 and 6 variants of the handset when shooting at high frame rates.

While the samples are few and far between, the increase in quality is very noticeable with the added benefit of better dynamic range across the board in highlights and shadows. While more tests are needed it is safe to say that at first glance the iPhone 8 and for that matter the iPhone X cameras are probably the best video smartphones released to date when it comes to slow motion video quality. iPhone X & 8 Have 240fps Full HD!

From earlier rumors, we were already privy to the information on the 240fps full HD from a code leak that showed it as an option on the new iOS beta. There was also a secondary rumor that stated 480fps on HD 720p as a code snippet. On the final phones, there seems to be no mention of this extra frame rate which possibly is being saved for a future mobile product by Apple.

The new Phones X (for ten) and 8 with the 8 Plus both have the same improved camera modules with the new A11 Bionic chip which brings new levels of performance to smartphones which also permits the processing of a larger frame buffer for full HD 1080p at 240fps and as an extra bonus for the first time in a Phone, 4k 60fps recording. → Continue Reading Full Post ←
