We have seen quite a lot of new slow motion footage inundate the Intertubes this week.  The amount and quality of the footage seem to have exploded recently with more and more cameras able to shoot at higher frame rates and at qualities that make it bearable to watch. Of course, there is also the occasional professional high speed camera shot i.e Phantom Flex 4k, which makes it the icing on the cake.

It is also time to get inspired by looking at the work of others to better your own shooting and gather new ideas or inspiration.  It is time to lay back and relax while you watch some extremely cool slow motion footage. 5 Amazing Slow Motion Videos

We have to share some amazingly cool slow motion videos we came across recently.  There is continuous production of quality high speed content as the democratization of slow motion cameras is happening. However there is so much content being produced that is sometimes easy to miss.

The videos below are using Phantom cameras or experimental cameras in the mid 20th century capable of 15 million frames/sec to capture the initial fireball of a nuclear detonation. We have five recent slow motion videos that may peak your interest plus a new HTC Phone released with a slow motion function.  While there has been a quiet front in the phone space slow motion since the introduction of the Google Pixel last year; we expect great things in 2017 like the announcement of the Galaxy S8 and iPhone 7s among others.

The HTC U Ultra is not a high performance phone when it comes to video recording but it does provide a slow motion function that is a little subdued due to the 720p 120fps limitation. The latest update from the fps1000 camera front shows the production line of sensor boards with memory and other parts. Production is ongoing and cameras are on schedule to start shipping to Kickstarter Backers next week or Dec 12-18+.  This is on schedule as planned and after testing and quality control they should start reaching buyers by the end of the month which is a welcome development. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Graham Rowan the creator of the fps1000 HD high speed camera project and founder of the Slow motion camera company Ltd. has posted a big progress report that backers of the project have anticipated for a few weeks.  It is now reported that the campaign funds have been released by Kickstarter and can be applied to fulfill component orders. → Continue Reading Full Post ←
