GH5s Rumor Video Analyzed & Dispelled! (Updated)

GH5 Rumor Video Analyzed

The video that started the entire speculation craze the past few days from Neumann Films showing a supposed GH5s Panasonic camera with a red colored dial akin to that of the recently announced Lumix G9.  We have downloaded the video and isolated the video frames where the red dial is visible and scaled it for easy showing.

The camera is in our interest because it may offer 4k 120fps in its specs according to the rumors. In our findings, the supposed GH5s camera is nothing more than a plain GH5 camera that is momentarily reddened by a compression artifact set of macroblocks that changes to a red hue after a light change, then reverts back to normal. Chronos Kickstarter Camera One Year Later!

David Kronstein has published a walkthrough video of the Krontech warehouse, assembly installations, and offices located near Vancouver Canada, in what could be described as a rapid expansion of a startup that just a year ago was just coalescing.  With now 337 Chronos 1.4c cameras shipped to Kickstarter backers and also direct purchase buyers; this is a significant number of units for any high-speed camera and we can probably expect that number to increase!

David also goes shares his thanks to the people who helped make the camera project possible and where the company can grow from here. We expect great things from Krontech not that they have shown the ability to mass produce gear that works and as it continues to improve with software releases. Over the last seven weeks testing and shooting with the edgertronic SC2X  high-speed camera we have a complete picture of what this camera can do and where it can really shine. This camera is a special one in its own right because it is the breakthrough 1080p Full HD camera that achieves 2,000fps at excellent quality for film and TV productions.  This is a camera we have been waiting for a long time and it is all that we were expecting and more concerning quality and frame rates.

HTC U11 Plus Does 120fps Full HD 1080p!

The HTC U11+  is a refined version of the U11 which was one of the better spec android phones of 2017. The new iteration boosts speed and a screen that goes from 5.5 inches to 6 inches. Space was accommodated for a larger screen without making the phone itself much bigger which is a feat of design and engineering.

For many, the big disappointment will be that it seems HTC is not making a US version of the U11 Plus and leaving it only for Asia and Europe at this time.  The US market is very competitive and HTC has had a hard time penetrating the sales ranks of the Samsung, Apple and Google phones. edgertronic has been working hard on a new firmware update that boosts frame rates for the newer SC2, SC2+ and SC2X cameras which makes it possible to shoot at full resolution several hundreds of extra frames while maintaining near stock video quality.  This first update iteration adds an overclocking setting menu to the SC2, SC2+ and SC2X cameras with 5% increments in four settings.

Now the SC2+, for example, can shoot above 5000fps at 720p full resolution from the maximum stock of 4456fps.   Overclocking settings come in four settings and while your mileage may vary according to your camera, most settings should work as advertised. We tested the SC2X at all settings and find that Overclock A 5% and B 10% offer quality very close to the stock setting and allowing for over 2000fps. → Continue Reading Full Post ←

Move over Apple, the LG V30 recently released might be the best available video recording smart-phone ever.  In fact the LG V30 is not high on slow motion frame rates, topping at 240fps 720p and does not have 60fps 4k like the latest iPhones but has an ace up it’s sleeve that might catapult the phone to be #1 among video recording professionals that want a phone they can use alongside their expensive dedicated video gear.

The LG V30 has 10 bit color for starters recorded to its flat profile called LG Cine-Log format which is very close to implementations from Sony, Canon & Panasonic Log formats.  The other big feature is that it has probably the best manual control video interface in a phone to date with peaking for easier focus, manual shutter, aperture, ISO and a variety of frame rates. → Continue Reading Full Post ←
