The rumors were in this occasion mostly true and that is a great thing for the camera enthusiast.  The Successor to the still relevant Panasonic GH4 is nothing short of a powerhouse when it comes to video.  Photo enthusiasts should still find a good balance of features in the Panasonic GH5 but it is clear that Panasonic is very serious about the GH series going forward and has once again created a flagship camera that will become a cornerstone of compact video gear. The body has barely changed and that is also good news, the GH3 and GH4 were almost identical and it is a true and proven form factor with the now indispensable rotating tilt shift screen. Canon 5D Mark IV disappoints with 120fps 720p!

We have been following the rumors on the next version of the Canon 5D with some subdued but hopeful enthusiasm. However, as many rumor sites now claim the final specs for the camera to be released next month probably at Photokina; it is clear that there is a big disconnect in performance from the common DSLRs in the Canon line and the mirror-less competitors from Sony and Panasonic.

There is a lot to like in the camera specs but also a lot of disappointing things for the video enthusiast or professional.   The camera has always been primarily a stills powerhouse and it is clear that this pedigree is maintained in the Mark 4. Photokina Expected Camera Announcements

We are just a couple of months away from Photokina 2016 which takes place from Sept 20-25th in Cologne Germany.  There are quite a few refresh expectations when it comes to cameras but there are also rumors of new announcements. As to what is solid and or dependable remains a mystery but rest assured there will be some good hardware presented.

For starters the updates to popular higher end camera lines in the Nikon, Canon, Sony and Panasonic lines should be announced with most of them sporting higher frame rates as specs. Galaxy Note 7 Will Share S7 Slowmo Specs!

The Galaxy Note 7 is expected to be released the 15th of August 2016, just a few weeks from now.  There have been a few spec leaks that will put to rest the video capabilities of the phone.  While these may change at release time; the amount of confirmation makes the information more reliable so close to the unveil.

The camera specs look to be identical in scope and capability to that of the excellent Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Active and S7 Edge which is one of the best performing portable phone cameras ever released. Ono U1 Resurfaces Attends GSMA Mobile WC!

The Ono U1 Smartphone is showing signs of life again after almost completely disappearing from existence.   The team has posted a Facebook update that shows their upcoming participation in the GSMA Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2016 June 29th to July 1st.

As to what they will present we are not sure; there are questions on the post by interested people about the 480fps frame rate capability on the Ono U1 already and so far no answers have been posted, but that could change.  We may actually see a phone by then and if high frame rates are included it will be a welcome surprise. → Continue Reading Full Post ←
